Kuari Pass Trek also known as the Lord Curzon trail is amongst the finest Easy-to-Medium treks of Garhwal Himalayas. Kuari Pass is about 65-km trekking trail and rises to an altitude of over 4200 meters above MSL at the Kuari top. It is rated as the Top-5 easy-medium (non strenuous) treks of India because of several reasons. The trail gives you the glimpse of remote Himalayan villages, the eeriness of dense forests, views of highest Himalayan peaks and a panoramic 360° view of snow-clad Himalayas from Kuari Pass top. A glance at Nanda Devi peak is a moment to savor for lifetime.

About Kuari Pass - Lord Curzon Trail

For first few days the Kuari Pass Trek goes through villages and Oakwood and Rhododendron forest passing through Ghooni, Jhinjhi villages. You witness the remote Himalayan culture that is bang opposite from a city life - a slow paced, carefree life. We will come across Shepherds, wild animals, streams and Alpine tress during the first half of the trek. The walk goes up and down the mountains zigzagging through trans-Himalayas. As we enter the 4th day of trek we leave the tree-line and begin to a view snow-clad peaks that are highest in world. The scenes at Kuari pass top are mesmerizing with white peaks visible in all all aound. We descend from here for 2-3 days and reach road head at either at Auli or Tapovan.

Gorson Bugyal (Meadow)

The highlight of Kuari Pass trek is the Gorson mountain ridge - a very narrow trail with steep fall on one side and mountain wall on the other. Hiking through the Gorson Bugyal to reach Tali is a hearth-thumping experience and one of the striking features of Lord Curzon trail.

 

Nanda Devi Peak

View of India's 2nd highest peak from Auli is spectacular. This peak is visible only from areas near Auli.

 

Art & Culture

Remote villages with beautiful and hospitable people. These include Ghooni, Jhinji, Pana and such villages that still restores the age-old practices to demonstrate the art & culture of Himalayas.

 

Hot Water Spring at Tapovan

The hot water spring at Tapovan is a huge attraction and posses medicinal properties if you take a dip.


Peaks like Nanda devi, Haathi-Ghori, Trishul, Nanda Ghunti, Dunagiri are visible during the Lord Curzon Trail hiking.
